Support : Self Help : FAQWhat is Factua? Factua is a fully automated factsheet publishing system for financial services companies that produce factsheets on a regular basis. What kind of factsheets and documents can Factua produce? Factua can produce factsheets in almost any style and layout. Factua uses Microsoft Word and Excel as the basis for the factsheets it generates, so all the features and functionality of these applications can be used to create attractive and informative factsheets. The factsheets can include: text, images, tables and charts, and they can be output as: print-ready files, PDF, HTML, Word, Excel, XML and other custom file formats. How does Factua generate factsheets? Factua generates factsheets for specific funds or products by incorporating factsheet data into a factsheet template. Where is the data stored? Factua stores the data in a database for easy access. How do I get the information into the database? If you have the data in electronic form (spreadsheets, etc.) then it can be automatically imported. If not, Factua comes with a browser-based user interface that lets you enter and manage your data. I already have the information in a database - do I have to throw that away? No - if the information is already in a database then it will be very easy to get the data into Factua. Can Factua only be used for producing fund factsheets or can it be used in other applications? Factua specialises in fund factsheets or other investment-related documents such as performance summaries, but it can be used to produce other documents and reports that have to be produced on a regular basis. How does Factua differ from other reporting tools? With traditional reporting tools, reports must be created using unfamiliar tools, which either require extensive training or programming experience. Factua templates are created using tools with which everyone is familiar - Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Because Factua templates are so easy to create, there is no need to involve consultants or IT staff when new types of document are required - anyone can design and create new types of document, or adjust the style and layout of existing documents. Furthermore, Factua can produce documents in a variety of formats, including PDF, HTML, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, XML, etc. Most reporting tools have a more limited set of formats, which makes it harder to share information, and harder to use the documents produced as the basis for other documents. Can Factua produce web pages that can be used as part of an existing web site? Yes. Because the templates used by Factua to produce web pages are simply HTML files with special mark-up indicating where the information should go, there are no restrictions on style or layout. The style and layout of existing pages can be copied wholesale, making the generated web pages blend seamlessly with other pages on the web site. Can Factua create factsheets in different languages? Yes. Factua has the ability to store and manage translations for common terms in any number of languages. The system also handles regional differences in date and number formatting, etc. This facility is seamlessly integrated so that the same document can be previewed in different languages at the click of a button. Can Factua help distribute my factsheets? Yes. Factua supports several web-ready output formats that enable factsheets to be downloaded from a server, emailed to recipients or uploaded by ftp to a corporate server. Is any ongoing maintenance required? If you are happy with the layout of your factsheets, then no maintenance is needed. You can literally just click a few buttons to generate your documents each day/week/month. If you need to change the style or layout of your documents, you can easily do that simply by editing the templates. Adding new types of document is just as simple - just add a new template. In all cases, Electrum is always happy to offer advice and, if necessary, on-site support. What is the licensing model for Factua? The core Factua technology is licensed on an annual basis. This licence fee includes initial installation and training and annual support and maintenance. I think Factua suits my needs - what should I do now? Your first step should be to contact Electrum, who will discuss your
requirements and conduct a feasibility study on your behalf to ensure
that all of your requirements can be met. |
